If you're planning to travel for our wedding party, we are so grateful. We hope you're able to enjoy a bit of the unique culture, food, and architecture of this unique island. This page outlines some starting suggestions for how to arrive, where to stay, and where else in Sicily to explore once you're here.
The closest city to Bronte is Catania, which fortunately has an international airport, Vincenzo Bellini Catania Airport (CTA). You can find flights to Catania from many European citites. If flying from the US, we recommend flying through a major European hub, like Munich, Copenhagen, or Rome, and then connecting to Catania. Starting in May 2025, Delta is starting direct daily service from New York JFK to Catania CTA.
While it's possible to fly to Rome or Naples and drive to Sicily (it involves a ferry), we advise against it. If you're looking for a road trip, plan one within Sicily!
The easiest way from Catania to Bronte is by car. The Catania airport is served by many rental car agencies and staff can assist in English. Driving in Sicily is an experience in of itself, but outside the major cities it's doable for most any driver.
If you'd badly like to avoid driving, there are buses from the Catania airport to the town of Bronte operated by ETNA Trasporti. (Start: AEROPORTO - Catania, End: BRONTE - Via Catania Padre Pio.) If you choose this option, we recommend coordinating with another guest who will have a car to get to other activities, your hotel, and the venue.
The only way to the venue, La Fucina di Vulcano, is by car. There will be parking on-site. If you will not have a car, plan to coordinate with another guest or check for updates on which hotel will be served by a shuttle. Please arrive by 6:OO PM.
There are several hotels in the area, these are a few of our suggestions.
Unique, lush grounds, swimming pool, and spacious rooms. (We're tentatively planning to organize a shuttle from this hotel.)
Located within Bronte and attached to a restaurant.
Sleek interiors, located within Bronte.
When looking at rental homes or apartments through AirBnB, VRBO, etc, we have just a few tips: Confirm parking and check if your host provided driving instructions. By law, operators of hotels and rental homes are required to request your passport number. (Don't be surprised when they ask!) You also may be asked for a small tourist fee upon departure (a few euros), so it can be useful to keep some cash on hand.
